Fresh dill and horseradish give these naturally-fermented pickles a layered depth and taste.

Britt’s Peace Pickles were inspired by a traditional Russian recipe that uses horseradish root to add richness and just a touch of heat to clear the sinus passages! Rather than pickling the cucumbers in vinegar, Peace Pickles are fermented naturally in oak barrels for up to three weeks in a saltwater brine and combined with horseradish, dill, onion, and garlic. The live-cultured pickles deliver a crispy, tangy bite that’ll absolutely love.

we were pleasantly surprised and couldnt stop eating them...my husband kept saying where did you get these?  so good!

Delicious!

These are worthy of the Lower East Side in New York City.

It's like sneaking into grandma's cellar without the creepy cobwebs.
7/29/2021
I think I just went to heaven or at least my taste buds. If you remember sneaking a pickle from great-grandma's pickle crock in the cellar you just have to try these. This is what a REAL pickle tastes like. Great-gran would approve.

worst pickles ever!
7/30/2021
These are the worst pickles I've ever tasted.  Squishy and overly salty.  I had such high hopes for these and it was really dissappointing how bad they were.  Horseraddish may as well have been shredded white carrots since it added no horseraddish flavor or spice at all.

Amazing pickles!
7/31/2021
My grandparents had a farm on whidbey  and a cellar full of homegrown/canned goodies! My gram always made sweet and bread &butter pickles,  but my granddad always made the best spicy dills.  These are the closest thing I've ever tasted to his! I did add a bit of crushed red pepper to the batch in hopes of kicking it up a notch. I hope these stay in stock

Normally a pickle lover
8/02/2021
My house generally loves pickles so I figured why not try some fancy flavored ones. Well we tried them and I have to say for some reason you can’t just take the pickle outta the bag and eat it whole, to me it tastes better cut up. My daughter didn’t like it either way, she’s a huge dill pickle fan. And I think it was just too different for her taste right now. They’re not bad. Just different.

Pickle?
8/03/2021
I always get excited when Smith Brothers adds New Products!!  I read the Reviews for the other Type of Pickle same brand and it only had 3 Stars.  So I thought for the price I would try the one that Rated almost 5 Stars.  We are all Pickle Lovers so I decided to go ahead and try.
I made the Favorite Grilled Cheese Sandwich to go with the Pickles.  My first bite was interesting, different flavors a little Salty, I think you can get use to the different taste after time.  There was a slight bit of Heat, but not enough for me.  I was excited over the anticipation of A CRISPY PICKLE.  No CRISP here.  Very Soggy.  My daughter didn't even finish her 1/4 of a Pickle.  I finished my 1/2.  My son almost finished his 1/4 and he liked them, lol.  I just don't like to waste and was giving the Pickle a fare shot.  FYI Kids are Adults, lol

These are fantastic! Flavorful and just great!

Don't waste your money!

Bought these and the IPO pickles for my pickle loving husband. Took one bite and threw the whole bag in the garbage. So disgusting!
8/10/2021
Probably good but not for me
8/12/2021
A very interesting pickle. Missing the vinegar kick because of the different brine. The pickles are hollow and the rind is a bit too thick for me. Not going to say they’re bad, but just not for me.

They are FERMENTED Pickles!
8/13/2021
I LIKE that they are FERMENTED :) I think that the low ratings do not take into account the different taste of fermented vs canned pickle taste. The taste of these is exactly what I was expecting, if you have had fermented pickles you know that they are more sour and not crispy.

I'd like more, please
8/16/2021
These were very tasty, but in a 2lb package, I was really expecting more pickles. Most of the weight was the brine. I think I got a total of 7 or 8 pickles for $12. Granted, they are relatively large cukes, but still. Maybe use smaller cukes or cut them in wedges so you can get more in the package?

For anyone wondering about the wide range of reactions to the product: These are not like the pickles you get in the grocery store, which are typically cooked and sterilized in a vinegar brine for quick production and longer shelf life. These are room-temperature fermented in a saltwater brine. The sour flavor comes from lactic acid produced by bacteria. It's a very different flavor, and if you're not expecting it, you might be surprised.

oh how I love these!
8/16/2021
It looks as if people are divided on these. I like the IPO ones of the same brand, but for me these are perfection-- fermented with a lot going on in the flavor department, and the horseradish is interesting and a perfect touch of heat. They're part of my standing order now.

Yum!
8/17/2021
We eat a lot of fermented foods in our house, so these were an instant but when SB started selling them. They don’t disappoint! Large pickles, really good flavor, definitely will consistently order.
8/17/2021
husband loves them!
8/17/2021
I am not a pickle person, but my husband is. I was unsure if he would like these given the reviews, but decided to try them. He loves them! He says that they were nice and crunchy and taste wonderful. His only critique is that there are not enough in the package...
8/17/2021
I think I love them. Wife hates them.
8/18/2021
Definitely not for the unadventurous. I’ve decided I really like them. I may or may not have drank the brine when I ran out of pickles. Getting more

Among the best pickles I've had
9/26/2021
I feel like the disappointed reviewers didn't realize what they were getting. These are naturally fermented pickles unlike most grocery store pickles that are simply cukes in salt and vinegar. That gives these pickles a more complex interesting (maybe funky?) flavor. Don't toss the brine, it's just as delicious as the pickles.

Fantastic!

Especially delicious if you love sour pickles- fresh, crisp, healthy and yes you can’t eat just one! Some may be used to a different pickle type, but to me these are perfection!
