Products
Q. Why does your milk taste so fresh?
A. Our milk comes straight from the cows to your home in just 24-48 hours! We pasteurize and package the milk daily, using the most rigorous methods to test for freshness and quality at every step along the way. If you purchase milk from a grocery store, the milk is likely to have spent twice as much time in processing, on the road, and at various distribution outlets before making it to the grocery shelf. Learn more about what makes Smith Brothers milk so special.
Q. Where does Smith Brothers Farms’ milk come from?
A. All of our milk is sourced from the highest quality Washington dairy farms. We have developed relationships over the years with some of the finest, most skilled dairy farmers in the state who adhere to strict standards for land use, animal care, and product freshness and quality.
Q. Is Smith Brothers milk free of artificial growth hormones?
A. Yes. All of our milk comes from local, Washington farms that have banned the use of artificial (recombinant) growth hormones (rBST).
Q. Does Smith Brothers Farms package their milk in glass bottles?
A. No. Smith Brothers Farms packages their products in paper cartons primarily for these reasons:
- For every glass bottle of milk, there are four to six more bottles being cleaned and sterilized for re-use. This process taxes the environment by using a lot of water and energy. Also, each bottle has a lifespan of only about 10 uses before breaking. Paper cartons conserve water, weigh less, transport easier, and can be recycled.
- Studies show that the flavor and freshness of milk is compromised when exposed to light. Paper cartons block out the light to ensure fresh-tasting milk.
Q. Are your milk cartons recyclable?
A. Yes, they are recyclable, and they are compostable. Be sure to check with your local municipality to see if it accepts rinsed cartons for recycling.
Ordering
Q. What is a “standing order”?
A. A standing order is what we'll deliver to you each week unless you tell us differently. This standing order can be changed at your convenience. You can always add and remove items from your weekly list as you see fit.
Q. Can I change my standing order?
A. Yes. You can change your standing order as often as you want and purchase only what you need. Order changes can be made via phone, e-mail or on our online ordering site.
Q. Is there a minimum standing order?
A. Yes. We require at least one product to be on your standing order. If you go on vacation or want to skip a week for any reason, just let us know, and we can put your account on hold.
Q. How do I order extra products?
A. You can access your account online 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and easily update your order. Or, if you prefer, just call us at 1-877-MILKMAN or email us at getmilk@smithbrothersfarms.com, and we can change your order for you. Please note, there is a 6 p.m. cut-off time the day before your delivery.

A. Does Smith Brothers Farms charge for delivery?

Q. What if I am not home when the milk is delivered?
A. Your Smith Brothers Farms’ milkman will provide you with an insulated porch box to ensure your products stay cool and fresh. Some customers put blue ice in their boxes to help keep the milk cool, especially in the summer months.
Q. How often can I get milk delivered and what day will my delivery be?
